How to share any type of file on whatsapp using Google Drive !!

We all use messaging apps to share media and different contents among our existing groups. With over an insanely large number of over a billion users worldwide, Whatsapp is a dominant player in connecting people today. While it allows us to share media like all other messaging apps , the current feature of sharing PDF's has definitely added a little bit of professional touch to it. But if we talk about the issue seriously, it's still a laughing stock if you wish to do some serious file sharing.

But there's a little work around to save the day. You can use your Google Drive account to share any type of file (photoshop, torrents,zip.... anything that Google Drive lets you upload <3) without even worrying about security issues by proving a simple one-click download link to the users.

Since Google Drive does not provide any such feature till now, so you need to do some very basic editing to the link provided by Google's "Share link" feature.

Steps :

1. Upload the desired file to Google Drive.
2. Click on the three vertical dots on the right side of the file.
3. A menu appears with "Share link" option.
4. Select the app.(here Whatsapp) Choose the contact.
A file hosted on Google Drive has a link that looks someting like this :

https://drive.google.com/file/d/FILE_ID/edit?usp=sharing

When you access this link, it will render the file in the browser but if you can rewrite this URL slightly, the link, when clicked, will download the corresponding file in the user’s browser instead of opening it in the browser. The modified URL would be:

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=FILE_ID

All you have to do is make note of the FILE_ID in the original URL and use it in the modified URL. Happy sharing !!
Here's a short video showing how to create download link for a torrent file using Google Drive and share it using Whatsapp group :
